DISCOVER DAMIEN HIRST'S "THE COSMOS PAINTINGS, METEORITES, SATELLITES" SERIES AT THE OLD WINE STOREHOUSE
Damien Hirst was the first artist to send a work of art to Mars in 2003, and he is continuing his exploration of the Universe with new series on show at the old wine storehouse.
The paintings in the "Cosmos" series combine with the sculptures in the "Meteorites" and "Satellites" series to immerse us in space. The "Cosmos" paintings are the result of the artist's observation of the floor of his studio: stained with paint, it has become the stage for a new galaxy.
Based on this experience, the artist decided to lay a canvas on the floor, covering it in black before spraying it with paint. These works, at first sight abstract, evoke the beauty of the galaxies captured by the Hubble space telescope in the 1990s, which fascinated Damien Hirst. A miniature of this telescope is presented in the exhibition, along with various satellites and meteorites. By linking art and science through a sensitive exploration of the cosmos, Damien Hirst invites us to reflect on the immensity and mysteries of the Universe.
