Etienne - L'échelle
With L’échelle, an ephemeral installation anchored in the Mediterranean, the familiar object transfigures the relationship to space and time.
The works reveals a stainless steel ladder, planted in the open sea, weighted down to the bottom of the sea.
The installation, photographed for a day, invites the public to swim ti its rungs, to climb and to see itself, for a time, suspended between sky and sea.
L’échelle, combines immensities : the invisible depths, the free movement of the currents, the detached horizon.
Immobile witness of the sun’s course, it is a link between times : The buried past, the flickering present, the lights to come. The scale and its reflection invite the spectator to the spaces between times.
