Marguerite Piard, La Folle Allure

Château La Coste is pleased to present "La folle allure" at La Galerie Bastide.

This solo exhibition showcases the work of artist Marguerite Piard, whose gentle, moving paintings stop time in its tracks. The title, a tribute to Christian Bobin, refers to the whirlwind of our fast-paced lives, through which we try to recognise, and sometimes catch on the fly, a piece of beauty. It then slips through the apple of our eye into our heart. But how do we manage to see them again, in the midst of our crazy lives? How can we regain the necessary availability, when everything conspires to go at breakneck speed, to fly over, when the rhythm becomes so exasperated as to condemn boredom? How, if not by slowing down, agreeing to pauses, making time stutter, imposing a counter-crazy pace?

It is precisely this intention that gives Marguerite Piard's work its vibrant intensity, the bewitching delicacy of her line and the moving rendering of a shadow on a breast, a fallen hand, the meeting of two appeased flesh. She turns her supports into the guarantors of her poetry. It is in the hollow of a shell, on carved wood, on a recycled screen or even on rough stone that her gesture is completed. He leaves behind poignant colours and an immense sensuality in the service of naked bodies, which sometimes intertwine, representing those close to him when it's not her directly. His retranscription of light and shadow brings an infinite softness to his works, which are often filled with nostalgia.
