Ha Chong-Hyun,
« LIGHT INTO COLOR »

Château La Coste presents a solo exhibition by Korean artist Ha Chong-Hyun, a leading figure of the Dansaekhwa movement that emerged in 1970s Korea. Titled Light Into Color, the exhibition reflects over fifty years of exploration into material, light, and the painterly gesture.

At the heart of this temporary exhibition in Provence, the Conjunction series showcases a distinctive technique: pushing paint from the back to the front of raw jute canvas—evoking the scars of history. Displayed in the Renzo Piano Pavilion at Château La Coste, near Aix-en-Provence, Ha Chong-Hyun’s works interact with the natural light of the South, creating a poetic resonance with the landscapes that have long inspired masters of color.

Ha Chong-Hyun offers a contemporary perspective on painting, blending meditative tradition with radical experimentation. This exhibition is presented in collaboration with Tina Kim Gallery and Kukje Gallery.

Located just minutes from Aix-en-Provence, Château La Coste invites you to experience this temporary exhibition, where artistic creation meets the Provençal landscape. As a renowned destination for contemporary art in the South of France, our cultural programme combines temporary exhibitions, permanent installations, contemporary architecture, and a rich winemaking heritage, offering a singular experience at the gateway to the Luberon.
