Marc Newson

Château La Coste is pleased to present a major exhibition devoted to Marc Newson, one of the most influential designers of his generation. A key figure in contemporary design, Newson invites us to reconsider our relationship to form, material, and the objects that shape our everyday environment.

Conceived as a focused yet expansive journey, the exhibition brings together fourteen iconic works spanning more than four decades of creation. Installed both inside the Auditorium Oscar Niemeyer and outdoors, the presentation offers a transversal reading of a visionary practice defined by constant inventiveness and a radical formal freedom.

Iconic furniture, monumental sculptures, and experimental pieces enter into dialogue with Niemeyer’s fluid architecture and the Provençal landscape. Among the highlights, the legendary Lockheed Lounge embodies Newson’s pioneering approach, while Electra, a monumental six-metre-high sculpture unveiled here for the first time, marks the entrance to the site as a powerful sculptural threshold.

Through the exploration of materials ranging from aluminium and marble to contemporary composites, Marc Newson has developed a language in which process, technique, and experimentation are inseparable from form. His work blurs the boundaries between art, design, and architecture, asserting a non-linear and deeply intuitive approach.

Rooted in the landscape of Château La Coste, this exhibition highlights a practice without borders, shaped by a continuous circulation between cultures, disciplines, and scales. It offers an immersive and sensory encounter with Marc Newson’s universe, where each work reflects an ongoing dialogue between innovation, material, and imagination.
