Valdrin Thaqi, Cautionary Tales

Château La Coste presents Cautionary Tales, a new exhibition by Valdrin Thaqi at the Galerie Richard Rogers, on view from 7 March to 19 April 2026. Born in 1994 in Kosovo, where he lives and works, Thaqui develops a figurative painting practice marked by restraint, silence, and moments of suspension.

At the heart of the exhibition, Thaqi’s figures inhabit spaces stripped of narrative context. A simple gesture, a posture, or a subtle trace of a domestic or natural environment is enough to create a quiet tension. Through a precise use of light, colour, and brushwork, the artist composes enigmatic scenes in which every element carries meaning.

With Cautionary Tales, Valdrin Thaqi explores the fragile moment between stillness and movement, presence and disappearance. Light replaces storytelling, revealing emotion through suggestion rather than expression. The ordinary is transformed into a suspended moment, charged with a silent intensity.

This exhibition at Château La Coste invites viewers to slow down, to dwell within these pictorial pauses, and to experience the restrained power of contemporary painting.
