Where Landscape Become Colour

Where Landscape Becomes Colour: An Art Exhibition at Château La Coste, near Aix-en-Provence

What do we see when we look at a landscape? A place, shapes, colours, light — but also memories, sensations and inner images. At Château La Coste, near Aix-en-Provence, the art exhibition Where Landscape Becomes Colour invites visitors to explore the connections between landscape, colour and perception.

Bringing together Thai artists Mit Jai Inn, Parvit Pichienrangsan and Apichaya Wannakit, the exhibition offers a sensory exploration of contemporary art. Through their distinctive artistic approaches, the works question how we see the world and transform what we observe into personal impressions.

Landscape as a Sensory Experience

A landscape is never simply what lies before our eyes. It is transformed by our experiences, memories and imagination. At this exhibition at Château La Coste, colour becomes a language in its own right: it draws the eye, creates an atmosphere, evokes emotions and can bring memories of a place back to life.

Rather than necessarily seeking to represent landscapes faithfully, the works convey impressions, a sense of presence or intimate experiences. They open up new perspectives on our relationship with the world around us.

Three Thai Artists, Three Approaches to Art and Colour

Mit Jai Inn’s painting explores materiality and the intensity of colour. Parvit Pichienrangsan’s multidisciplinary practice draws on experimentation and impressions gathered from everyday life. Apichaya Wannakit, meanwhile, explores how places, objects and personal experiences are transformed into subjective images.

Their artistic practices create an open dialogue around perception, memory and the ways in which we experience the world. Colour becomes a means of questioning our gaze and renewing our understanding of landscape.

Contemporary Art in the Heart of the Provençal Landscape

Located near Aix-en-Provence, Château La Coste is a unique destination where contemporary art, architecture and nature come together. Within this distinctive Provençal setting, Where Landscape Becomes Colour invites visitors to slow down, observe and experience both the artworks and the surrounding landscape from a different perspective.

Landscape emerges as a living space, shaped by time and human activity, but also by the memories and emotions of those who inhabit or contemplate it. Colour reveals unexpected dimensions, moving between visible reality and personal perception.
