Idris Khan
Château La Coste presents the first exhibition in France dedicated to Idris Khan. The exhibition includes 24 watercolors and three large paintings by the British artist, all previously unseen, which will be unveiled in the Richard Rogers's Galery
Khan's work draws on many influences, including literature, philosophy, minimalist art, musical scores and religion. She explores the concepts of temporality, memory and spirituality through a unique aesthetic : a work on the superposition of materials, on the border between abstraction and figuration.
The simplicity of Richard Rogers' architecture and the fact that his pavilion for Château La Coste was one of his last projects inspired the themes of the exhibition : the unfolding of life and the passage of time. The left wall of the gallery will be dedicated to a series of watercolors evoking the months of the calendar and the passing of the seasons. As visitors move through the pavilion, their eyes will be captivated by these works of light and dark.
