AD FONTES : the new natural wine of the Domaine

In 2021, Château La Coste produces a new wine, a wine without added sulphites from vines worked with the help of our Horse Thalyssa : the Natural Wine AD FONTES.

But what is a "Natural" Wine ? 

Made from vines certified in organic or biodynamic agriculture, grapes for natural Wine are harvested by hand. Three criteria must be respected to use the name "natural wine" : 

• A wine without inputs
  A wine called Natural can only contain sulphur, and none of the chemical products normally authorised in conventional wine. 
   
• Natural winemaking
  All technological processes (thermo-wine making, cross-flow filtration, ...) are exclude in order that indigenous yeasts on the grape skin can work alone. 
   
• A wine without added sulphites 
  The natural winegrowers commit themselves to using no sulphites, or as little as possible: maximum 30mg/l of sulphites for the red, 40mg/l for the white and rosé. 

"Natural Wines", in addition to being healthy and ecologically friendly, are typical, racy, original, expressive and fruity wines. Wines that are surprisingly different from conventional ones, and without added sulphites.

AD FONTES - the wine without added sulphites 

From a clay-limestone and basalt soil, AD FONTES is a tri-varietal wine (Syrah, Cinsault and Grenache) without any added sulphite. 
A wine with an expressive and rich nose, AD FONTES evokes red fruits aromas and a beautiful sweetness of fig. This new wine from Château La Coste suggests spicy notes with a hint of chocolate on the finish.
On the palate, it's fleshy and generous yet you will find its very subtle tannins. 
AD FONTES will be the perfect accompaniment to your aperitifs, grills, cheeses and chocolate desserts.
